Many writers before us have insisted that a totalitarian regime cannot exist without propagandizing its population, and this is a dandy example of that. It was said that Donald Trump managed to issue thousands of lies during his presidency, but if he did, a good part of the country didn’t believe them, and most of the press told you they were lies. Of these, however, most of the country did (does?) believe them, and the press served as the Ministry of Truth to spread them. Which makes the current regime much more dangerous than the previous one.
False Public Health-Related Claims Made the Government
1 Anti-lockdown protestors spread COVID, but race rioters and looters do not. 2 If we flatten the curve, the economy can be re-opened in 3 weeks. 3 There is insufficient hospital capacity in the United States for everyone who gets COVID. 4 Refrigerated trucks in hospital parking lots were needed because the morgues had no remaining space for all the cadavers. 5 New York State did not force infected COVID patients into nursing homes, resulting in the deaths of thousands of elderly victims. 6 Hospitalized COVID patients should be placed on respirators. 7 It is safe to use Tinder to arrange sexual encounters with strangers during the pandemic. 8 Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin are not effective treatments for COVID. 9 Herd immunity will be reached when 70–75 percent have gotten Covid or are vaccinated. (Fauci admitted this was deliberately deceptive and raised it to 85 percent.) 10 Curfews of adult Americans will slow the spread of COVID 11 Banning the purchase of alcohol will slow the spread of COVID. 12 A man killed in a motorcycle accident died from COVID. 13 1-2 million Americans will die from COVID, as predicted by a model created by the Imperial College of London. 14 Georgia and other states will experience a surge in coronavirus cases and deaths by opening their economies too early. 15 Joe Biden’s assistant secretary of Health and Human Services has fathered children, but is actually a woman. 16 Economic-lockdown states will be better at controlling COVID than states that leave the economy open. 17 White supremacists are assaulting Asian Americans because Donald Trump said COVID originated in China. 18 Ordinary people are not essential workers, but employees of the State are. 19 Cloth face coverings protect people from airborne respiratory viruses. 20 It is advisable and safe for children as young as 3 to wear a face mask all day, even when physically exerting themselves and playing sports. 21 Experimental gene therapies are actually vaccines that do not cause injuries or deaths. 22 An 80-year-old lifelong government bureaucrat who has never practiced medicine,who cannot be fired, and who benefits financially from government-granted monopolies has no conflicts of interest and is the last word on everything COVID. 23 A healthy person has asymptomatic COVID if a PCR test with a 50 percent false-positive rate said so. 24 COVID has killed more Americans than any seasonal influenza epidemic.
