Conservatives and damned fools

"KORAN, n. A book which the Mohammedans foolishly believe to have been written by divine inspiration, but which Christians know to be a wicked imposture, contradictory to the Holy Scriptures."

       — Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

If the results were not so tragic in the long run, it would be amusing to chronicle how often and earnestly American "conservatives" dither frantically and endlessly about things that matter not one iota, but sit complacently by as their nation, their culture, and their race are subverted and overwhelmed by aliens and alien ideologies. This penchant has been observed by those alien forces and the traitors in our own midst, who frequently use this weakness to their advantage. (See my column of February 20, 2004, "Pornography for conservatives.")

The latest case in point is a still-developing flap in North Carolina over allowing Muslim witnesses in state courts to be sworn in on a copy of the Koran rather than on a Holy Bible. After the state's Administrative Office of the Courts issued a preliminary opinion that the substitution was permissible, Guilford County (Greensboro) judges refused to allow the practice in their courtrooms.

"An oath on the Koran is not a lawful oath under our law," declared Senior Resident Judge W. Douglas Albright, who sets policy for the county's courts. State law mandates laying a hand on the "Holy Scriptures" — which Albright limits to the Bible. "Everybody understands what the holy scriptures are," he contends. "If they don't, we're in a mess."

However, state law also allows those who wish to dispense with the Bible to make a secular "affirmation" to tell the truth. Such a practice is not common, though, because lawyers know that refusing to use the "holy scriptures" tends to make Southern juries doubt a witness's veracity and character.

Really — how can any sane person object to such an eminently reasonable substitution as the Koran? Only a true lunatic would insist that a witness swear to tell the truth on a "holy" book when the witness not only disbelieves the religion that it represents but probably holds a scathing contempt for it. Isn't it obvious that any Muslim is more likely to feel bound by an oath on a Koran than one taken on an "infidel" book, or by a simple "affirmation"?

We see here one of the very few instances when a little "diversity" can be a positive thing for an American institution, by making it more likely that Muslim witnesses will tell the truth. So, of course, it also has to be one of the very few instances when people in authority decide to rear up on their hind legs — for a change — and fight.

This is the same political class that has passed laws restricting immigration and then done nothing for two decades as 5,000 or more aliens have illegally crossed the Mexican border every night of the year.

Taking their own loudly promulgated laws even less seriously, even after the 9/11 terrorist attacks these politicals have acquiesced to alien demands for drivers licenses and other official forms of identification to help disguise the criminality of their very presence — documents without which the hijackers might not have been able to board those doomed airliners.

As for "conservatives," without an audible murmur they have swallowed the incredible assertions of courts, federal legislators, and bureaucrats that states and localities are responsible for educating the spawn of illegal aliens; and that local hospitals must treat illegals without recompense.

They fail even to whisper any defiance when told they must print ballots in a dozen different languages; that illegal aliens are entitled to cheaper "in-state" college tuition rates; that schools, hospitals, courts, and other public institutions are required to provide free translation services for the invaders, at crippling expense to the taxpayer.

They refuse to speak up when their own children are denied entrance to college because places are being held for less-qualified Hispanics and other minorities; when their children are denied scholarship funds because of racial quotas; when the federal government leads the way in dispossession by giving preferential hiring opportunities to every race but the one that built this nation; while their low-skilled fellow-citizens are displaced by illegals willing to work cheaper and "off the books."

And today our "elites" stand silent still — while 16-year-old girls such as Brittany Binger of Virginia are raped and killed by illegal aliens; while policemen such as Denver's Donald Young are brutally murdered by international scum who flee to Mexico, which refuses to extradite them to face the death penalty; while so many, many other victims stray within the ever-lengthening reach of alien predators — yesterday, today, and into the foreseeable future ...

But hear and see the mighty wrath of our "rulers" over something so inane, so meaningless, even so eminently practical as taking an oath on the Koran! The rest of our civilization may slide into the muck and mud of a Third World flood tide, but here is where they will proudly stand up and draw a firm and unyielding line!

Can anyone really doubt that this nation is doomed?
