Well, now ain't that peachy. Still more evidence that the Republicans
are no better than the Democrats.

> In recent weeks, current Attorney General John Ashcroft has said the
> war being waged by the Justice Department is very similar to the war
> against organized crime that Kennedy launched as attorney general in
> the 1960s.

> "Kennedy, it is said, would arrest a mobster for spitting on the

> this Department of Justice to be equally aggressive."

Great! So the way to win this "war" is to be corrupt: to trample on the
common law and the Constitution. This is further evidence that the
"conservatives" and "liberals" are in cahoots. The left pushes for
higher taxes and more "programs," while the right pushes for an
ever-more-powerful police-military state.

Ashcroft's statement reminds me of a similar one made by Churchill, to
the effect that if Hell allied itself with Britain against the "nazzies"
he would give the Devil a favorable mention in Parliament -- referring
to Joseph Stalin of course. The result was the enslavement of half of
Europe under the Soviet Empire, and the 40-year-long Cold War. Using
evil to fight evil -- or in this case, "evil" -- has a way of turning
out not for the best.
